I use Ubuntu and Fedora over an old MacBook Pro with Broadcom BCM/ SDXC/MMC card reader and it’s worked at the first installations but after some update it stopped working. I installed Ubuntu and Fedora for friends and the machine with the Broadcom BCM/ chipset for SD card reader gave me the same issue. An unofficial macOS kernel extension for Realtek PCIe/USB-based SD card readers. It uses the Linux driver as a reference implementation but is written from scratch and carefully designed for macOS to deliver the best performance. The device seems to be unrecognised by the OS, so my guess was it was the SD card reader, and on googling the part number, turns out it was! Jul Holy crap, I finally got it to work. Okay, so here's what I did. From the last line of lspci it was clear that I needed the RTS driver. Many computers contain readers for SD, MMC, SM, MS, CF, and other storage media that your card reader does not work with Linux due to driver issues. Does linux support SD cards? I am running Fedora 22 (kernel ) an a macbook pro retina (, 11,1). Also, the sd card reader device number (05ac).
